ST LUCIA
The small Caribbean island of St Lucia is a tropical paradise that is still relatively unknown. St Lucia is one of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, and is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean, between the islands of Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is a small island being only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide.
St Lucia boasts more than enough attractions and activities to keep tourists enthralled, hosting many natural wonders from excellent beaches and mountain scenery, to the Qualibou Volcano with its boiling sulphur springs. The island of St Lucia has a unique cultural heritage which provides a big attraction in itself, with a considerable British and French influence that can still be seen today.
All the beaches on the island of St. Lucia, including those that are part of the large resorts, are open to the public. The beaches on the western side of St Lucia are very tranquil with turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. These beaches are favoured for swimming and water sports, while the wild but stunning eastern side have turbulent waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Most of the resorts offer some form of entertainment throughout the week, including local live bands and cultural performances. You can also find excellent bars and restaurants all over the island that are fun and provide a lively nightlife.
The Town of Gros Islet is well known as the nightlife capital of St Lucia. Nightly activities can be found in the Rodney Bay area, from quiet fine dining to just relaxing at a popular bar or grabbing your favourite toppings from a nearby pizzeria.
