GRENADA
The Caribbean Island of Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands with an area of only 133 square miles. Grenada has a population of about 100,000, and is 21 miles long and 12 miles wide. Grenada has a great deal to offer its tourists with excellent hiking trails, exploring, sailing, diving and many more outdoor activities to suit all.
Grenada lies 100 miles north of Venezuela, and is green with volcanic mountains. Grenada is covered with fragrant nutmeg trees, and the scent of exotic flowers. Locally, Grenada is known as the 'spice island' due the islands nutmeg exports to the rest of the world. This is a tourist’s paradise with stunning rivers, waterfalls, lush rainforests, springs and lakes to explore. Hiking is popular in Grenada; especially around Mount St. Catherine which is 2,756 feet. The Island is a picture postcard of white sandy beaches and clear crystal waters.

With stunning white beaches, and dotted with picturesque towns, the island of Grenada has long been a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and cocoa. The seductive smells and sights drift through the streets on market days. Grenada’s capital is, St. George's, and is widely held to be one of the most beautiful cities in the Caribbean. St. George has a stunning horseshoe shaped harbour and is surrounded by a pastel rainbow of dockside warehouses and red-tiled roofs of traditional shops and homes.
Grenada's natural beauty is complemented by its history and vibrant heritage. Grenada is host to many local festivals, fairs, and markets which remain an integral part of life on the island. Although the tourist industry in Grenada has become more substantial in recent years, the island's atmosphere, friendly people and relaxed lifestyle still remain to this day.
Grenada has a fairly quiet nightlife compared to some of the other islands in the Caribbean. However, you will always find bars and clubs dotted around with great live music and dancing. There are a few hot spots where the locals and tourists alike can go and have fun into the early hours of the morning.
